2024 MEET SCHEDULE
2024 Westminster Waves Summer Swim Team
- Westminster Waves is a Summer Swim team run as a non-profit
- We are part of the Boulder Valley Summer Swim League
- Mission of Boulder Valley Summer Swim League: The purpose of the BVSSL is to provide a safe, healthy, competitive and fun swimming experience to all summer swimmers 18 years old and younger. The BVSSL promotes self-discipline, individual achievement and teamwork. The League is predicated on kids learning proper swimming techniques and sportsmanship in a fun and competitive environment. Above all, the BVSSL is dedicated to summer swimmers and their excellence in the sport of swimming.
Westminster Waves Philosophy:
Our coaches believe the skills acquired in this sport will promote a lifetime of enjoyment of health and fitness as our focus will extend past swimming to promote teamwork, good citizenship, self-discipline, and the desire to excel. We want every child to have a positive and fun swimming experience so that he/she will want to continue swimming for years to come.
Requirements:
-Under 18 years old (as of May 15, 2024)
-Be able to swim 25 yards without stopping
-Have a good attitude and willingness to try your best
Practice Schedule:
Tentative Pre- Season: Tuesday, May 21 – Friday, May 24
-5:00-6:00pm ages 7 and younger
-6:00-7:00pm ages 8-10
-7:00-8:00pm ages 11 and older
Regular Season:
Tuesday, May 28 –Friday, July 19
-7:00-815am ages 11 and older
-8:15-9:15am ages 8-10
-9:15-10:00am ages 7 and younger
Practices are Monday-Friday and are held at The Ranch Country Club.
No practice on July 4-5, July 26
Championship Week:
Monday, July 22-Saturday July 27at VMAC. Details TBA.
There is no minimum requirement for attending practices. I recommend ALL swimmers attend Friday practice as we will be going over the meet line up and relays that day.
Meets:
Swim meets are every Saturday June 8–July 27, with the exceptions of the weekend of July 6th and July 20th
All swimmers are required to participate in at least 3 meets. If you have to miss a meet, I need a note or email IN WRITING at least 2 weeks before the scheduled meet. You must swim in at least 2 meets to be eligible for the Championship Meet.
Swim meets are about 6 hours long, please pack extra clothing, towels, and healthy snacks for your swimmer on meet days.
We have 3 HOME meets. We need timers, heat organizers, crowd control, stroke judges, starters, scorers, ribbons, setup, clean up, and more. We will be sending out sign up forms. Each family is required to volunteer for 6 hours throughout the season. You may choose to pay a fee of $120 in lieu of your volunteer hours.
The dates of our home meets are June 16, June 22, and July 13. Our home meets will be held at the Ranch Country Club.
End of the season celebration:
We will have a team party to celebrate the season at The Ranch Country Club on Tuesday, July 30th. Details to follow.

Cost:
The cost for the entire swim season is $375 for the first child in the family and $325 for each child after. These dues include coaching, swim meets, and 1 swim cap. Additional costs for swimsuit, spirit gear, and end of the season banquet.
Equipment:
Team Suits: Team suits are not required, but we look more cohesive as a team when we have them. Girls $50 Boys $30
Team Swim Caps: All swimmers will be given a swim cap to wear to meets (required). If your swimmer loses or tears that cap, he/she will need to buy another one for $10
Spirit Gear: T-shirts, hoodies, parkas, etc will be avail for purchase in our team store. Wave Racers Apparel Store (apparelnow.com)
Goggles: I recommend having a back-up pair. My favorite goggles for competition are Jr. Vanquishers by speedo.
Registration:
All athletes must be registered by May 20, 2024
Refund Policy:
No refunds other than credit after April 30, 2024
